TIME TRAVEL VIENNA
Time Travel Vienna started in 2010, when the owner approached EAS after he had gone through a number of design companies that all could not deliver what he was looking for:
An attraction that would give the Vienna visitor a compressed yet complete tour through the history of vienna.
The aim here was not to build a museum that would cover every detail, or display real historical artifacts (as those exist in abundance in Vienna). The aim here was rather to give the visitors an emotional tour through the city and its rich history.
Using a mix of traditional attraction tools such as animatronic shows and modern media , EAS delieverd an attraction that was not only on time and even 15 % below budget, but that also received now for the 3rd year in a row the Tripadvisor certificate of excellence.
Scope of work
EAS delivered the complete design from masterplan to engineering detail and did the project management and art direction for the construction of all show elements and film.
One of the main challenges was the fact that theattraction is built into the basement of an old monastery- a protected building which was in parts more than 500 years old.
Even though the budget was tight and elements had to be changed due to the buildings unpredictable conditions, EAS managed to get the complete scope built and still undercut budget projections by 15 %.
After the attraction had a bit of a rocky start due to a less than successful marketing, the owner asked EAS to also contribute conceptual design as well as all the advertising images for the marketing. Time travel Vienna was able to improve their numbers substantially after that and surpassed its visitor numbers goal in 2015 by 25 000 visitors above plan.
